"Disraeli Gears" fait toujours partie de mes disques de chevet, je ne m'en lasserai jamais! Vous trouverez ici trois morceaux de cet album, dont l'inoubliable "Sunshine of Your Love", devenu un standard incontournable du rock-blues des seventies. "I feel free" est extrait du tout premier vynil, "Fresh Cream", et les deux derniers morceaux proviennent du troisième album, "Wheels of Fire".(Crossroads est une version "live")

Talking Heads : Remain in Light

C'est en 1980 que cet album voit le jour. Etonnant de voir que la plupart des musiciens passent à un moment ou un autre aux percussions :

* Jerry Harrison (guitare, basse, claviers, percussions)
* David Byrne (chant, guitare, basse, claviers, percussions)
* Tina Weymouth (basse, claviers, percussions)
* Chris Frantz (batterie, percussions, claviers)
* Brian Eno (synthétiseur, effets, basse, percussions, choeurs)
* Adrian Belew (guitare)
* José Rossy (percussions)
* Robert Palmer (percussions)
* Nona Hendryx (choeurs),
* Jon Hassell (trompette)

Et finalement pas surprenant. Tant le rythme est au coeur de ces créations. Cadences entêtantes, beats tribaux, funk déjanté... On va de surprise en surprise. Ajoutés à cela le travail d'orfèvre sur les sons (Brian Eno et Jon Hassel sont de la partie) et la voix insaisissable de David Byrne (c'est selon : chant, rugissement, déclamation...), on se trouve en face d'un album qui, sans orgueil, annonce les musiques qui suivront durant vingt ans. (Chronique trouvée lors de la première publication de cet article, en 2008, sur un site qui n'existe plus...)

The Rolling Stones : Between the buttons

Inutile de présenter les Rolling Stones, ce groupe faisant partie des plus grands noms de l'histoire du rock; cependant, si vous souhaitez en savoir plus, allez sur Wikipedia ou sur le site officiel.





J'ai choisi 6 titres, connus ou moins connus, mais tous extraits de l'album "Between the buttons" (1967), qui fut le premier (et unique) disque vynil des Rolling Stones que je me sois offert. A l'époque, je n'étais pas vraiment un "fan", mais j'ai beaucoup écouté cet album, d'où le choix de ce partage musical.

Jack Bruce : We're going wrong

En souvenir de Jack Bruce (1943 - 2014), le bassiste et chan­teur du groupe mythique des sixties, «Cream»...

Deux versions du même morceau, l'originale tout d'abord, chantée par Jack Bruce sur le mythique album de Cream, "Disraeli Gear" (1967), avec Eric Clapton à la guitare, Ginger Baker à la batterie, et bien sûr, Jack Bruce à la basse et au chant.
Ensuite, une version datant de 2003, toujours chantée par Jack Bruce sur son album "More Jack than God".
